It's Time For A Change...

So its two weeks since my big change and I just wanted to create a blog post once again fully explaining what happened and why I felt this change was necessary.

On November 1st 2016 I made the big decision to re-brand myself. After being LittleMissSimmer for two years I felt like it was time to take this hobby to the next level and fully embrace it as my business and not just something I do in my spare time.

When I originally created my old YouTube channel it was nothing serious, I was just trying something new and having fun with it. Over the months which quickly became years I began to grow as a YouTube content creator and this summer (August 2016) I was personally invited by Electronic Arts or EA to attend their panel at Gamescom 2016. The biggest gaming convention in Europe! This was a huge deal for me as it would be for anyone, and afterwards it really inspired me to take this 'hobby' more seriously. Before then I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had no clear career path planned post my degree, but it made sense to pursue what I love doing and that was gaming!

For a few months after this I worked really hard to improve my channel and its content, but it felt like I could never get it perfect. I grew from nothing on this channel, in the beginning I knew nothing, I was doing it all wrong for so long and the majority of my videos looking back are not my best work. I have learnt so much and improved two-fold in my two years on YouTube and it felt like a good idea to have a fresh start.

After talking with friends in the community who had been through a similar situation and thinking about it non-stop for days on end, I finally made the decision to put over 700 videos and 4.5K subscribers behind me and make a new channel entirely. Before delving straight into the move I planned my new brand down to every last detail, made a new website, new Twitch channel and thought long and hard about what I wanted to be called. I get a lot of questions asking me how I chose my new name. It simply came down to looking at myself and different characteristics about me that I could use to create a name that was truly representative of me and not something I thought of in 0.2 seconds on a whim!

I took the fact that I am super short and looked for synonyms for the word. 'Minikin' popped up and I thought it was perfect! I thought about what I could call my new community of followers and came up with 'KinSquad' which lead to more oncoming ideas for Twitch subscriber perks and other things. We have 'KinBook' and 'KinPoints' and even an adorable little mascot to represent our community. These are all things I just couldn't do with my old name.

Another huge change to my new identity was that I was going to put less of a priority to my YouTube channel, I started out streaming as LittleMissSimmer and I LOVED it! It was such a positive environment and so uplifting. YouTube is extremely negative at times, although there are lovely people there too, there are so many things I dislike about YouTube.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts and feelings about the recent changes I have made. I am no longer shackled to The Sims and I can finally create content I am proud of from the get go. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me through this. It really showed me who my true supporters are and it meant the absolute world to me to have you all there for me. Thank you all so much!
